Mission Statement Jaques Chapter, IWLA
To conserve, maintain, protect and restore the soil, forest, water and other natural resources of the United States and other lands, to promote means and opportunities for the education of the public with respect to such resources and their enjoyment and wholesome utilization. The Jaques Chapter will focus locally to educate and empower people of all ages to support this mission.
Policy: To educate and enlist local people to help carry out this mission.
- Goal: Provide volunteer opportunities for members and the public.
- Goal: Continue to publish the Acorn.
- Goal: Increase the Acorn subscription list.
- Task: Solicit current mailing list for additional names/addresses.
- Goal: Contribute news/feature articles to the local media.
- Task: Write letters to the editor on a continuing basis.
- Goal: Start a series on cable channel 15 public access.
- Task: Develop the series concepts and materials.
- Task: Develop the needed technical skills/equipment.
- Goal: Increase membership.
- Task: Design a campaign. i.e. each one find one etc.
- Task: Prepare campaign handouts.
- Task: Prepare a list of project opportunities.
- Goal: Hold public information meetings with topics of local interest to a wider audience.
- Goal: Update and publicize Chapter website.
- Goal: Actively collaborate with other organizations.
- Task: Participate in “Rite of Spring” annual event.
Policy: To demonstrate the value of our natural environment through direct environmental and preservation actions.

- Task: Document and publicize planned upgrades.
- Task: Expand cooperative programs with Scouting, schools, etc.
- Task: Hold public marsh meetings/tours/activities.

- Task: Contact neighboring properties with specific literature.
- Goal: Sign up for advisory committees at Watershed Districts, County, and City.
Policy: To support initiatives of the Minnesota and National IWLA organizations through direct Chapter and individual actions.
